Due to the success of the 2018 Football Fits project, CSM Foundation once again joined-up with London Sport and Sport England to manage the Just Play Satellite Clubs project. This £22,000 project worked with 9 partner clubs in London to deliver football projects targeting Everyday Youths aged between 14-19. Despite a target set to engage 317 individuals in football-based activity, the Just Play project managed to deliver sessions for 331 individuals over the course of the 2019-2020 season.
As part of this project, London Sport also funded 18 free FA Level 1 in Football Coaching courses for individuals participating in the different projects that took place across London as part of our Coach-Ed. programmes. The programme that looks to support people looking to obtain an FA Level 1 in Football Coaching has so far helped 30 people obtain qualifications with another 18 on their way to securing their first qualifications in coaching football.
Through London Sport’s personality identification toolkit, Everyday Youths were identified as the target group of participants to take part in the Just Play project. Each project focussed on creating an environment of social and open community participation. Sessions prioritised having fun over competitive play to encourage Everyday Youths to be more active without the added pressure of competition which London Sport research identified as a key barrier towards participation for this group.
The partner football clubs for the Just Play project are:
- Asianos FC (Waltham Forest)
- Barkingside FC (Redbridge)
- FC Leytonstone (Waltham Forest)
- Flyers FC (Havering)
- London Tigers FC (Ealing)
- Precision Sports FC (Barking and Dagenham)
- Ridgeway Rovers FC (Waltham Forest)
- Singh Sabha Barking FC (Redbridge)
